The Casa da Roda do Porto ended its functions at the end of the 19th century. The archive that preserves its memory and that of those who passed through the institution is kept in the city’s District Archive. Integrating still and moving images and sound, the project “Sem Passado” (No Past) draws on the collection in this archive to build a perspective on the objects that have survived the Roda do Porto, especially the signs that preserve the last genealogical traces of the abandoned children. The photographic work aims to stimulate, through the author’s gaze, selection and technical and aesthetic work, a reflection on the reality of the Casa da Roda and on the lives locked away in the archive’s memory.
